geodes
Geode means "earthlike" in ancient Greek. A geode is a hollow rock whose inside is lined with sparkly crystals, most often quartz + banded agate. On the outside geodes just look like a rock, nondescript + easily overlooked. However, cracking open a geode will display an array of sparkling, colorful crystals, sugary druzy, and/or beautiful banded layers. Each geode is completely unique, like a time capsule!
