Iolite is type of mineral called Cordierite that has a natural phenomenon of Pleochroism, where the gemstone seems to change in shades of different color according to light and movement. Iolite with Sunstone is also called Bloodshot Iolite. Sunstone is a Feldspar.

This rare crystalline combination is also called Bloodshot Iolite due to the brownish and reddish inclusions. When Iolite contains these glittery metallic, plate-like inclusions, it can be cut to display a sparkly effect known as aventurescence.
